Learn to nordic walk - winter 2012

Discover of the benefits of nordic walking

Find out how nordic walking can:

  • give you a low impact workout that uses 90% of your body's major muscles
  • help tone and strengthen your back, arms and legs
  • help you to lose or control your weight
  • improve co-ordination so you move more rhythmically
  • reduce tension in your shoulders and counteract stress
  • boost your energy levels and general well-being

It builds on your natural movement so you learn to walk as efficiently as possible.  Forget gyms - nordic walking gives you the chance to enjoy exercise outdoors.

Who is it for

Nordic walking is done at three levels so you can choose the level that suits you best:

  • Health/easy - for those who are less fit or recovering from illness or injury
  • Fitness/moderate - for anyone of average fitness who would like to try nordic walking
  • Sports/fast - for those are fit and practise sport regularly

Winter introductory workshops are at fitness/moderate level.

Get started with nordic walking

Special introductory nordic walking workshops

Learn how to nordic walk in two 1.5 hour sessions - you'll learn the basics of nordic walking, practice your new skills, discover more advanced techniques and practice again so you can enjoy nordic walking efficiently and effectively.

To help you learn nordic walking we break the technique down into easy stages using a variety of exercises combined with practice on a walk through the park.  The sessions also include essential warm up and cool down exercises.  You will learn how to walk with poles using the correct technique to get the maximum health and fitness benefits.

You can then develop your Nordic walking to suit your personal goals whether it’s conditioning to maintain your fitness, help with weight loss and simply enjoy a new way of exercising outdoors.
