Nordic walking in Greece
Explore the olive groves, hills and villages around the beautiful Mani peninsular in southern Greece – we offer nordic walking from the Olive Press to guests and non-guests.
Our aim is to enjoy the countryside of the Outer Mani, particularly the surrounding district of Avia – it’s a hilly area with ridges, valleys and gorges running from the lower reaches of the Taygetus mountains down to the sea.
Olive groves, tiny churches, medieval castles and old hamlets typify the area whilst on the coast there are lovely sandy beaches, pebbly coves and small villages with traditional cafes and restaurants.
There are a variety of walks which take you through the olive groves down to the sea, or around the countryside, lasting last from around 1.5 hours through to more challenging all day hikes for experienced nordic walkers. Some are circular, some are point to point and involve local or our own transport. We follow, farm tracks, quiet roads and old paved paths [kalderimi], all of which involve some ascents/descents so reasonable fitness is required.
Walks are arranged on an individual basis and the cost varies according to how long walks last and the number of people.
